What are Active ETFs?
While most ETFs simply replicate an index, some ETFs allow you to buy into a selection of securities chosen by a professional investor. These are known as ‘Active’ ETFs because the professional is actively choosing the securities, not following a recipe from an index.
Active ETFs are relatively new, but they can be bought, held and sold in the same way as any other ETF. There are Active ETFs investing in stocks, bonds, commodities, cryptocurrencies... Some have sustainable approaches, other focus on sectors or themes. Active ETFs give investors the same level of transparency on their holdings as passive ETFs.
