The CSI 500 index is a well-known indicator of the performance of Chinese mid and small cap companies. It includes 500 A-share stocks traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange after excluding the constituents of the CSI 300 and the top-ranked 300 securities of the universe by market capitalization.
A-shares are securities of companies incorporated in mainland China that trade on Chinese stock exchanges, by Chinese investors and Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII).
