The Austrian Traded index (ATX) is the best-known Austrian stock market index. It includes the 20 most liquid stocks trading on the Vienna Stock Exchange (‘Wiener Börse’).
This index is frequently used to represent the performance of the Austrian stock market. It includes only the top stocks in terms of liquidity, which is a small proportion of all companies traded in Austria. The same can also be said for other indexes that serve as flagships indexes for their country like the FTSE 100 in the UK or the CAC 40 in France.
