In this edition of ETF Charted, active ETFs go mainstream, U.S. launches pass 1,000, crypto ETFs keep expanding, silver inflows rebound, and ARGT sees flows return after a long drought.
After years on the sidelines, active ETFs have stepped into the spotlight.
Trackinsight delivers reliable and comprehensive coverage on 13,000+ ETFs
U.S. active ETF assets have now surpassed $1.4 trillion — accounting for nearly 10% of the total ETF market. The segment’s growth has been remarkable, more than doubling in just 18 months and doubling its market share over the past three years.
Flows tell an equally powerful story. In 2014, active ETFs saw just $3.7 billion in net inflows. Fast forward to 2025, and that figure has surged to more than $420 billion, signaling explosive growth and rising confidence in the segment.
This animated chart, built with PlotSet.com, illustrates how active ETFs have steadily gained ground in total ETF flows, transforming from a niche experiment into one of the industry’s strongest growth engines.
With record AUM and flows, U.S. ETF launches have also broken records, surpassing the 1,000-fund launch milestone so far this year.
Since the SEC greenlit spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs in 2024 and more recently approved a wave of altcoin ETF filings, crypto ETFs in all shapes and forms have flooded the U.S. ETF market, with more than 120 products now available.
Silver, the gold medalist among metals this year with triple-digit returns, saw ETP inflows surge, reinforcing a powerful positive feedback loop between performance and flows.
Net monthly inflows have returned to the only U.S.-listed Argentina ETF, the Global X MSCI Argentina ETF (ARGT), with two months of modest positive intake after eight consecutive months of outflows.
